Remember that surface, nostalgia for times gone by ...

The world at the time of the first free radio and TV in the mid-70s, was comparable to the conquest of the West. The ether was to conquer the West and many of us were the pioneers of this achievement. For young people today is very difficult to imagine what happened in those years, this revolutionary phenomenon that changed our lives. If you are under thirty years, was born and grew up with radio and television commercial, with color TV, with thousands of channels of every genre and listeners and predictability with dozens of different means. It would seem that everything was always there, but by stepping back and going back to 1974, in Italy there was only one radio and one television, RAI. It was not until 1976 to start talking about the phenomenon of "free radio" and those who have made this possible.
reaching our age is naturally recall his youth, memories emerge and nostalgia for times gone by, is the host. We want to start talking about those people, that with their passion, their dedication, their preparation, losing hours, days, destroying their car to get up in the mountains to transmit those signals as desired by the society of that time and which today we're almost addicted, have allowed the challenge of those years would turn into reality. We will talk only to those people who have gravitated around and still gravitate to our Radio Studio Center - Consortium Radio-Siciliano, but talking about them, their experience, we can expand the conversation and talk about all those pioneers who changed the ether face of our Italy, claiming a right guaranteed by the Constitution, namely freedom of expression of proprie idee con qualunque mezzo disponibile.
Nel 1980 nacque la nostra radio, Radio Studio Centro, trasmetteva come emittente zonale frequency of 90.00 MHz with a transmitter and we had a DIY antenna on the roof of our headquarters which allowed us to reach the area between Marineo and Misilmeri. As you cross the Mason story of Toto with that of Radio Studio Center is easy to explain. In 1982, for technical issues we have asked his advice and he began to deal with problems without the high frequency of our station. It was so much love for the profession and the confidence to make a contribution through his art, which paid no attention to the fact that we were those who were exiled from his radio to make another, even took to heart this new creature in the meantime grew.
A contribuire al nostro success was also an audio processor, a historic Hiletron Toto that made us buy the same because, ahead of its time, as we said then, a radio that you listen well, with a signal-bodied, it is followed, and then winning.
But the story was coming to the sad ending. It was 1987, due to a failure of the transmitter on 90.00 Mhz we thought it was time to take a big step, that is to further widen our catchment area to the City, taking advantage of its historical one frequency. It was a Friday in late March, we brought the equipment by Toto to fix it and to lay the foundation for our project. We would see, to have repaired the transmitter and plan that long awaited expansion of the coverage area, the following Wednesday, April 1, that is after the commitment he had taken with the issuer Punto Radio that was broadcast its signal in the City. We asked Toto, we knew full employment as the echo of his professionalism was known in Sicily as well as outside, not to make us the joke of the fish in April not to repair the transmitter. He was also a man of a joke and told several anecdotes concerning him, among all, that of a day in winter, with snow in the mountains, which was chosen to install the antennas.
Il primo di aprile, quel April Fool's Toto did, we kept the appointment with him but we were at his funeral. A note or a dull and gloomy signal arose at that time by all the radios to give a final farewell to those who had given his life for love immeasurable called Radio.
